In past few years, we are losing talents in engineering to other subjects
which compared to be much more money-making, but it seems none of us find a solution to stop this trend and being depressive of this. I have just read
from newspaper that Software Engineer is the best occupation in US,
considering the salary, job pressure, respect from publics etc. Many of you
may ask: why doesn't it happen in HK? I would say: because you dreamed too
less and you do not have "guts".
Students in HK are creative to think, efficient to work, but they seldom
have "guts" to start-up their own business. I am typically one of those who
did not have "guts" in the past, but started to have "guts" to try after
John (Professor C.S. Lui) told me: try or you will never win. If you do not
try, you will never succeed. I do not expect I will become as successful as
the founders of facebook, but at least I have guts to change my life. I
believe I am still controlling my life and I rather devote my time to learn
how to make a better dream.
Congratulation to 20th anniversary of Engineering faculty. I hope all of ustake pride in how you make your dream come true.
